Her maternal grandfather was Nawab of Manavadar, named Ghulam Moinuddin Khanji. Sarwat Gilani got married with Fahad Mirza, a cosmetology surgeon, and actor in August 2014. The couple now blessed with the two sons Rohan Mirza, and Araiz Muhammad Mirza.

Sarwat started her showbiz career as an actor. She made her first acting debut in a drama serial
“Dil Ki Madham Boliyan” aired on TV One in 2005. After this series she has worked in many series, she acted a lead role in a drama serial “Malaal” opposite Faisal Rehman. This is a love story of two close friends who live in the USA. She portrayed the role of a very young and innocent girl, Mahi who is the waif of Danish. Her other acting debut on TV was “Yaryan” starred with Faisal Qureshi, Aijaz Aslam, and Samiya Mumtaz. The drama revolved around the stories of three friends and the twists and turns in their life. Her recent famous drama is “Khasara” with Mikaal Zulfikar, Junaid Khan, Sonia Mishal, which was aired on ARY Digital in 2018. The drama is concerned about four friends who get intertwined into their relationship due to an affair of money in the name of love.
Sarwat made her film debut in “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani” alongside Vasay Chaudhary, where she played a side role of a pregnant Pashtun woman. She made her stage directorial debut in “Kiski Topi Kiskay Sir”. She was also starred in “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2” as a side role of Gul alongside Vasay Chaudhry.
