H.G.Dattatreya who is an Indian actor and a former Wing Commander. He worked in a plethora of movies approximately, more than 204 films, and various plays as well. Also, he is mainly known for his amazing performances and prominent appearance in Kannada cinema and mostly seen in supporting roles. He is the recipient of several awards and honors that he won throughout his career. He was born in 1942, Chitradurga, India where he grew up with siblings and parents. He is the son of Venkamma and Harihar Gundurao who is blessed with seven kids including H.G. Dattatreya. He graduated from University Visvesyaraya College of engineering, Banglore from where he got a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Career

After completing studies, he then joined the Indian Air Force where he served in its technical branch as a Commissioned Officer. Apart from this, he certified trained from Air Force Technical College, Banglore, and during post-graduation, he earned a certificate on completion of a project on Management and Advanced Technologies. In 1984, he worked in Indian Air Force for more than 20 years and retired as a wing commander.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he started appearing in films and while studying, he made his Kannada film debut with “Nagabharana’s Aasphota” which was released in 1988. And for the role, he earned the Kannada State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. Since then, he accepted various roles and won the hearts of millions of people around the globe.

Also, he won several awards and honors for the roles played in the movies named “Krauya” (1996), “Munnudi” (2000), and others.

Among various prestigious achievements throughout the career, he won the National Film Award – Special Jury Awards, National Film Award, and the list goes on.
